Owen Hart Wrestling With Angels

An Indepth look at the Life and Times of The Late Owen Hart May 7, 1965 – May 23, 1999

Gold Rush

With the family feud finally starting to calm down, Owen found himself unified with Jim Cornette's heel stable as 1995 began. At WrestleMania 11, Owen formed and alliance with Yokozuna to overpower (duh ya think!) the Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart) for the WWF Tag Team titles.

Owen and Yoko were unrelenting for much of 1995, until a questionable match against Shawn Michaels and Diesel on PPV In Your House 3…it was what was called a Triple Header match WWF champ at the time Diesel put his title on the line Intercontinental champion Shawn Michaels put his title on the line and WWF tag team champions Yokozuna and Owen Hart put there titles on the line but because Owen “Didn’t show up!” bulldog took his place and during the match Owen came down got a jack knife power bomb for his trouble and Diesel and HBK picked up the win! Because of the British Bulldog's involvement in the match, Owen and Yoko were forced to defend the titles again, the next night on RAW.  Spent from the earlier night's PPV main event, Owen and Yoko lost the titles to the Gunns.

Owen once again embarked upon a stint all on his own, this time stealing headlines following one of Monday Night RAW's most brilliant moments: playing off a real-life happening in which Shawn Michaels received a concussion in a parking lot fight in Syracuse, Owen hit Michaels in the back of the head with his trademark enziguiri; Michaels collapsed in the ring, as many in the beginning thought Owen's kick triggered a relapse. It was only an unbelievably well worked angle.

In 1996, Owen was awarded a pair of Slammy, and also propelled himself back in the thick of the tag team title chase, this time in the company of his other brother-in-law, the British Bulldog.
Under the administration of Jim Cornette, the Owen/Bulldog duo swiftly won the tag straps.  Despite a change of management -- as Clarence Mason took over the team from Cornette Owen and Bulldog continued strong into well into 1997.
