Owen Hart Wrestling With Angels

An Indepth look at the Life and Times of The Late Owen Hart May 7, 1965 – May 23, 1999

Heel

At Survivor Series '93, Bret Hart put together a team of his brothers to face Shawn Michaels and his masked "Knights" (originally, the storyline called for Jerry Lawler and his knights to face the Harts because of the crap that had happened in the past)...   in addition to bringing Keith and Bruce Hart out of retirement, Bret kept a spot on the Hart team for Owen.  During the course of the match, Owen unintentionally collided with Bret, and was eliminated from the match by Michaels.  Owen would be the only part of the Hart team that was eliminated that night, and returned to the ring after the match to deal with his brother for causing his elimination.

Things were smoothed over, however, and Bret and Owen were strong-minded to dedicate themselves to winning the tag team titles, as a unit.  Their shot came at the 1994 Royal Rumble, where the Harts squared off against the Quebecers.   The story in that match was that Bret's knee was badly wounded; Bret had the opening to tag out to Owen, but instead tried to apply Bret’s finishing hold the Sharpshooter.  In applying the move, his knee collapsed, and the ref decided to stop the bout due to Bret's injury.  Owen, irritated by his brothers choice to "steal the glory" for himself rather than tag out to the unharmed member of the team, turned on brother Bret, attacking the already injured knee, and becoming a top heel in the process.
